Chem 542 demo

These demos require an MPEG compatible movie viewer.

  • A real-life illustration of Coriolis interaction with a ball on a merry-go-round. The rotation causes straight trajectories in space to appear curved as seen from the rotating frame. (2 MB MPEG movie)
  • Two period  of a swarm of classical trajectories (red) evolving under the pendulum Hamiltonian (blue constant energy contours in phase space p vs. x). This Hamiltonian can be used to represent most phase-space motions ranging from vibrations to free rotations. Notice the spreading of the swarm, in analogy to a quantum wave packet. (480 kB MPEG movie)
